The way occult writings work for me, is that they present a half hatched verbal description of a person's unique spiritual journey towards the divine presence. This being the field of conscious awareness that is existing now within all things, the element of the universe which is awake, and which we tune into when we perceive anything at all. Because we each own a unique set of biological tools to experience the world with, this too gives us a unique key to the door to the “Kingdom of Heaven or God”, which has been taught to be “Within You”, Luke 17 21, at least for our time on Earth. As if our natural state of being has been turned on its head, and we are no longer in heaven but a negative image perhaps, and it is within us. Maybe our job as people is to attempt to create heaven within ourselves in such a way that gets as close to divine resonance as possible.
No matter how we try to explain ourselves, and what we sense, feel, and almost know, we will always fall back on our previous wisdom to do so. And this means that over the world we have an entire doctrine of teachings that all branch off in many ways. It is a shame that in order to be convincing and have our message spread, that we must apply an element of over certainty to our work, and declare truth at every opportunity. For any other science, this is an absolute must, but for matters of the spirit, and soul, we must always account for our personal differences.
When a person is called to write, especially in a theosophical or metaphysical way, then it can be assured that within their literal explanations is an element of truth. That resonating buzz that compels us to tell it how it is can be likened quite accurately to the power of personal truth, and it is this which we want to express. We then use all the tools of our wisdom to do so. We will naturally form bias and objective opinions in this process and this is where everything begins to fall apart. Where the scientists and materialists demand evidence and proof, the change in character and open mindedness of the thinker is the only real given proof of any advancement in this area of occult wisdom. To try to copy will result in issues, as the path is always unique to a certain degree.
The best way to enjoy and read books written in a spiritual manner, or from the occult and metaphysical direction of literature, is to read, absorb, and let go of what is there. The truths will stick in the mind and reveal themselves as life goes on. The very things that the author wanted to show but perhaps was too concerned about sticking to the rules and regulations of their particular society or group will manifest as metaphorical truth for you in introspection and in future events. Dwelling on things, comparing self to the thinking and likeness of another human is not helping, but using their words as a source for a greater back catalogue of ideas to draw upon to explain and appreciate life's circumstances is a gift we can give to ourselves.
