Here is another article with a similar story.
If feeling generally fuller, more satisfied and with more energy when consuming organic food (which in my experience is what happens) isn't enough then it is being shown again and again that firstly these additive free ingredients contain much higher levels of antioxidants may help. These are incredibly useful molecules for the body and are vital for wellness. They are the reason we are informed that fruit and vegetables are good for us and why we consume them daily if we can. Organic produce contains more of these. They also contain higher levels of other trace nutrients and minerals. They also taste better.
What does organic actually mean in the food market? It means that the item you receive has not been modified or grown using artificial chemicals. These chemicals are added for two reasons, one is to feed the crop i.e. to fertilize it and the other type is to protect it, i.e. pesticides and fungicides. It is common knowledge that these two activities can be done naturally and with effort however because easy use chemicals can be profited on when sold, and western Governments rely on trade to fund their systems, it has been the preferred method. Nature and time spent preparing the family field doesn't make much money and so it has been discouraged.
We all know that the human body can resist a small dose of poison here and there, or we'd all likely be dead long ago, but if consumed in small doses over a long period of time, we begin to exhaust the natural defence mechanisms. Remember Darwin? We have biological and organic bodies which have been crafted by the force of nature over the course of billions of years. Our cells are based on the first cells which have been built on over this huge amount of time. What we have today is the product of billions of years of work. To begin including new molecules and new organisms at the rate we are doing is sprinting away from that natural web.
It may come as no surprise that tests have shown that non-organic produce contains significantly higher levels of heavy metal elements which are notoriously poisonous. A slow build up of these toxic ingredients in our bodies can have little effect on the short term but over time they will push our systems to the limit.
Change is not an easy thing to do, and if you are used to buying the factory farmed produce, the price difference and availability will be something to adapt to but it is not as difficult as it may seem. A simple switch to organic potatoes as one step will decrease the toxins in your family and improve the intake of nutrients fairly significantly. Taking small steps and gradually replacing what you buy with the healthier and natural version will result in a more satisfied life, and likely a healthier one too.
