Shamanic Experience
Ovnimoon Records
Within moments the music is inviting us to take an out of body experience, unless we lie in the deep past era of humanity, where magic and wonder were everyday commonplace like cups of tea. Electronic wavelengths with organic feels craft their way in and out of the tapestries of flow given by the epically effected yet hauntingly accurate vocal chants, blanketing the comfy enough old spring mattress with something soft and cosy.
Our musical roots, mirrored with the tribal sounds, soon evolve into a much more diverse and synthesised array of sonics. Whispers of the infinite scope wash over us as every new pulse of life is gently added to the rumbling forward momentum of the music. A dab hand with the flow button, the abstract yet intuitive moments of up and down make it immediately enjoyable.
Jedidiah is a Hebrew word, meaning Friend of God. According to early scripture, it was the name given to King Solomon as a baby. Perhaps the name represents the passion for making good music with a positive vibration which leaves listeners feeling fulfilled and ready, without the non essential mind baggage left behind by more lyrical and emotional artists. If that is the passion of this musician, then I accept the title as at least artistically accurate.
As we sift through the layers of this progressive album, tempos are shifted slightly and moods are swept away to make way for new feelings. With tracks two and three, a movement of exploration and formulation occurs which prepares us for the entire album. Like a chapter one, the first selection of tracks of a prog work tend to be a seed from which all others are crafted. Particular attention is paid to the feel of it, and the keys, and not necessarily the melody or repetitions of previous sections.
We are not let down by the artist, Jedidiah is able to give our mind exactly the right doses of rhythm, flow, tune, and mantra to adequately fulfil the album title. As music of this nature is often used as a prompt for visualisation and meditation work, the element of fantasy is deep enough to give this ability. As with the continual layering of feeling and sensation, wavering intensities and amplitudes of tone, it works well as a framework for allowing a journey into dreamscapes.
