Karen's blog is a place for this feeling, this remedy to the forever grinding and churning battlefield of ethics and morality, the customary world of keeping things in perfect feelingless order. When I visited "My Heart" a beautifully put together, yet very simple blog page, I found a medicinal realisation.
Even with the most upsetting of things, for example the recent murder of Marius the baby giraffe by Copenhagen Zoo, Karen is able to paint the most adorable image of the animal and write a tear inspiring poem to match.
There isn't a mention of politics or religion or opinion, there are no pointy fingers and there are no accusations. This page is simply a ticket to that little feeling of "ahhh" like a cup of tea and a biscuit on the beach, surrounded by the most natural and beautiful things.
Karen Lyons Kalmenson is a phenomenal painter. With an knack for describing an emotion in colour and shape, she uses the well known forms of animals and objects and twists them just a bit to bring out exactly what she feels. In doing so, it enables us to get a picture of her conscious perception of the world and for me, it is a relaxing and generous one. Her poetry also stretches out in feeling and tickles the very nerve which stings, and brings it to a rest. Like a comforting little song, this blog is more than just nice, or pretty. When absorbing the feel of it, when appreciating the posts one by one and putting yourself there, in the flow of it, the experience is a great gift.
Karen has a facebook fan page, a zazzle art store and of course her inspirational blog. Please visit them all.
