It is such a shame,
To see you pick up the blade,
For protection,
In anger,
No passion and rage,
Looking for justice,
Wanting to feel strong,
Matching up to stories,
You've heard since you were young,
The local legendary figures,
Who remain as postcode lore,
Now just an epitaph,
Or locked up behind cold doors,
If you want to be the toughest,
The strongest and the best,
Then put that drive to good use,
Forget about the rest,
You could be a lawyer,
Even a police officer,
A soldier or a whatever,
And get the thrills you love,
Or be a musician,
An artist or a poet,
Even if you don't know it,
Just put your own mind to it,
And try,
It's better than turning to crime,
This is the only life,
For sure,
So don't waste it,
Like those who did before.
