Sometimes we forget,
Our modern glorious age,
Where freedom is given,
And education,
Is the standard for all,
Where girls and boys,
Use the same entrances,
And women can go to work,
When married,
They no longer disappear,
In the eyes of the law,
And when in school,
We can't be beaten,
With sticks,
Trousers down, bend over,
This is for being a fool,
Don't you remember?
No, of course you don't
It happened to your grandfather,
Not you,
Conscription of men,
Forced to kill for state,
Regardless of what the ten commandments say,
Shall we go on?
Don't take liberty for granted,
It could as quickly be gone,
Part of the equation,
Is understanding and respect,
Even when something isn't right,
We must learn to trust progress,
Patience for our fellows,
No matter where they live,
Give them time to adapt,
And set good examples to give.
