It keeps me up at night
I do deserve to see her
It's doing what is right
I can hear her asking questions
Why is Daddy not around
I wish I could tell her
She's welcome time abound
It's only because I tried to help
A person who said they were in need
It turned out that they were beyond
Any help offered from me
She needed a doctor
And a few months in jail
To clean out her system
And to teach her manners as well
The police said it was unfair
To blame me for her crime
And said I should still have my daughter
They couldn't understand why
So I wait for the impending phone call
To say can you have her this week
It's been far too long for her
To go without spending time with me
